The Peacock Door by Wanda Kay Knight
Warning: This review contains spoilers. Read at your own risk.
Synopsis: “In a magical tale of adventure, eight cousins sneak through forbidden treehouse doors only to find themselves separated from each other and lost in strange worlds. In their quests to return home, they must unravel mysteries, escape snares and villains, find one another, and search for the elusive Oracle. The Peacock Door is a rich story of camaraderie, courage, and determination with a bit of whimsy sprinkled throughout.”
This was my first middle-grade fantasy book to read, but it blew me away. Wanda Kay Knight provided her readers with breathtaking, sensory-rich images that brought every page to life. The characters were realistic and extremely likable. The plot twisted and turned in fun and unexpected ways. The way Knight told this story, weaving back and forth through different perspectives, was mesmerizing.

The best word to describe the story of “The Peacock Door” is “magical”. I fell back to childhood as I rooted for these eight children to find their way back to their grandmother’s tree house, all while learning important lessons about life, as well as about themselves. I was absolutely enchanted by the mystical world Wanda Kay Knight crafted. I can’t wait to read more of her work, in the future. I highly recommend that you all get your hands on a copy of “The Peacock Door”.

I really like the cover (as do many lol) and the synopsis sounds like just the right sort of book to drop back into childhood, as you said 🙂 Going to have to pick it up!
